Our Story
Brienna Joy graduated from Purdue University May 14, 2022 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology. She had been accepted into New York University Steinhardt's dual masters degree program in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness and Post-Master’s Advanced Certificate in LGBTQ+ Health, Education, and Social Services.
She was passionate about providing mental health care to underserved communities and hoped that by attending NYU, she would be able to make connections and affect policy. As an adoptee and Black woman, she knew how much representation matters and wanted to lend her powerful voice to enact change.

However, July 29, 2022, Brienna suffered a double pulmonary embolism and stepped into eternity.

We miss her dearly.

The Brienna Joy Foundation was created to support women of color pursing graduate degrees in mental health fields. If our Brienna can't continue her dream, then we are going to support every woman we can, providing financial support to make their dreams a reality.

We are currently an Indiana S Corp organization pursuing not for profit status. Our goal is to raise enough money to provide yearly scholarships and find other ways to support adoptee, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities.
